Last night (12-12-07) I was waching "THE POLAR EXSPRESS" and was looking at the conductor's uniform, I realized how cool it was!
so, I was wondering, who makes a reproduction conductor's uniform?
There's no particular "conductors uniform" per se.
Different railroads have slightly different dress codes, but in general, you're looking for :
1 suit jacket, black.
1 pair black pants.
1 fancy white shirt
1 black vest. (Gold buttons look really nice).
1 Pocketwatch (set to railroad time, of course!)
1 Railroad conductors hat
1 railroad style whistle
1 ticket punch
Not all of these things are mandatory. The pocket watch on a chain just looks kinda neat to wear, especially when someone asks you the time, and you get to pull out this fancy-looking watch. I don't know if railroaders actually carry whistles, I know that where I volunteer, we carry them for signaling purposes, although any ole whistle will do. The most expensive item is probably the hat, which could run anywhere from $50 - $70.
A .000032 second Google search showed Transquip Uniform Company. Cost $485.00, unless you want a $100 ticket punch to go with it.
