Admirable sentiments "Doggy" and eminently expressed -- no doubt from your point of view.
[:)]
All I can say, with any certainty, is that Mr Gunn is definitely getting good press, from Don Phillips and the gang.
[:)]
If the good press is accurate; then I would also say that (based on his reputation in the industry) his success is in no small way, due to his ability and willingness to exercise diplomacy -- especially in his dealings with his fellow employees (and their labor unions) !!

I think he is doing a great job. He has very limited resources and is working in a hostile political envirnoment.
I think he is just the person they needed. Someone who can stand up to the "Gas Heads" in Washington and telling it like it is. At the very least this will allow Amtrak to continue to operate and at the very best get some additional resources.

I only know what I have read about him. But what I HAVE read speaks well of him.
This just might be the right man for the job. [:)]
I certainly hope so. [;)]
He certainly does have his job cut out for him. The "gment" is again him and Amtrak or so it seems.
He does appear to be making some really good decisions too.
I wish him well and hope he can actually expand the system and get more passenger trains runing to help the people who will not fly.
So far, He Has My Vote Of Confidence [:)]

Taking into consideration the mess he inherited, I think Mr. Dunn is doing an admirable job. What Amtrak needed was a committed, no-nonsense kind of guy at the helm, as well as someone who wouldn't be afraid to stand up to the hostile airheads (a select group of politicians) who would rather see Amtrak die before giving it one bleeding dime. Clearly the man has his work cut out for him. Never-the-less, I think he's been a plus. I want to believe he will continue to do his level best and not become a sellout. I give him two thumbs up. We can't ask any more of him than his willingness to do the absolute best that any one individual can.

Yes, he is the only person to head AMTRAK who was not a yes man. He told Congress the truth when he said the railroad would not be self supporting. Everything told before this was a lie when the presidents from the great Graham Claytor forward told Congress that it could. If the real railroads couldn't make a go of it, what made AMTRAK's bosses think they could.
Someone called the EMD F40 a relic. However, this was the best locomotive AMTRAK ever had. Never in its history, a company spokesman said, did one ever ride up on a rail and cause a derailment. It was a great locomotive.

Yes,a great job! He's not only a knowledgeable railroader, but one who tells it like it is. We haven't had that since W. Graham Claytor,Jr. left the post. If Amtrak survives, he'll deserve much of the credit.
