Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train
That should be the trip between St. Paul and La Crescent on the CP River subdivision. La Crescent is just accross the Mississippi River from La Crosse, WI. There's a wye there with the ICE where they can turn the train.
Information on the trips can be found at the 261 website: http://www.261.com/

9/15/07. doubleheader? goodness!
thankfully i may have struck a deal with my parents, allowing me to drive down there and chase this train! assuming i can make it. maybe afterwards i'll get a pizza from the little caesars (if you havent eaten any yet, you have no idea what you're missing) in Winona and eat it trackside by the BNSF. now THAT'S a vacation!
oops. went off on a tangent. sorry 'bout that. just excited.
steam doubleheader and CP/BNSF action? sounds like a memorable day for me! i can't wait!
Your friendly neighborhood CNW fan.
From DT St.Paul south it's the same route the Empire Builder now takes; it's following the former Milwaukee Road mainline.
I'm not sure which route it will take from Shoreham yards in Minneapolis to St.Paul, but from St.Paul it will run on the east bank of the Mississippi River (much of the time running parallel to BNSF's tracks) until crossing to the west bank at Hastings MN. It will then follow the west bank line to La Crescent (and a barbecue lunch in LaCrosse WI).
BTW I'll be on the train.

Can you provide the timetable for departure from Minneapolis and from LaCrosse?
