Until about 15 years ago my father-in-law was an engineer in Russia. I'd like to see some pictures of the locomotive(s) he worked on, but I'm not sure where to find them.

Are Russian locomotives uniquely numbered like the U.S. (and presumably other countries) locomotives? Are there any good websites that show Russian trains?

I had the opportunity to ride Russian trains in 1999-2001.  They were all old, but they ran on time!  If they were scheduled to leave at 11:02, you better have both feet on the train at that time!  I tried to buy some models (HO) there, but wasn't able to find the people who were selling them or the models were just overpriced AHM or Life Like that I already had.  I still want to letter a box car in Russian, just for the novelty.  I have a few Mexican cars.

I do have some pictures, but they aren't very good as they were usually taken from a moving car.
