C&O G-9s tying up at the Thurmond "Roundhouse" after a long day on the job

Snapshot from 1949: C&O G-9s 1031 and 1023 cool their heels near the 2 stall enginehouse that the Thurmond, W. Va locals proudly called their "roundhouse". The two old ladies have worked hard to drop empties at mines along Keeney's Creek and to bring back the day's loads to the marshaling yard at Thurmond for east and westbound coal trains. FYI: The two are Overland brass imports made by ROK-AM in the '80s that I painted and lettered. They have Lenz Gold decoders and come to life with Soundtraxx sound only decoders.
