Track Plan for a 10x20 Building

Dear readers all,

I am not new to model railroading by any means but something always comes along that improves the hobby and in my case several hobbies in various scale model types. Leaving the 1/35th scale and 1/48th scale out for now, I shall start with HO railroads as they grow in maturity and greater improvements. My layout depicts fitting everything I have in HO into the building dimentions noted. Not an easy task but at least the 8 ft. long switching yard (revised) and the one end return loop remain somewhat "pre-constructed" if you will. The remaing return loop needs work but will provide hours of entertainment for all once completed. The entire track shall be at a height of 42" off the floor enabling youngsters to view the layout with no stepladders. As the track has been simplified with the design so has the controlling with various Atlas components to make a K-I-S-S layout more fun to run. Please feel free to add constuctive comments keeping in mind that we all wind up with space oppurtunities that continually have us upgrade.

Just a few technical notes;

1.) All turnouts with the exception of one or two will be remote.

2.) All radius track will be a minimum of 22"

3.) As my wife pointed out the total track height off the floor is actually 43" making it impossible to pass for further operations until the error is corrected.(LOL!!!)

4.) As noted the height made a substantial difference with my mother-in-law, she still can't see over the whole thing, actually as long as the "Grandma's House is re-planted along with the crop of corn she really couldn't be happier !

And finally, I have lots of work to do!

Great railroading to all,

John Staehle
