The time is 1944. The scene is the Allied invasion of France during World War 2. The US 716th Railway Operating Battalion ( ROB ) is building up supplies of fuel , ammunition , men & equipment for the up and coming invasion of Germany and end the war by xmas 1944.The photo is of a French 2-6-0 pulling into Sablon yard at Metz near the German border. It has travelled from Cherbourg carrying vital war material.

This is just one of the 21 scenes from my point to point layout titled ' France 1944  D-Day +'. The theme of my fully operational dcc layout is to move men fuel and material.

The locomotive is kitbashed from a bachman 0-6-0 to a pic I have of a WW2 French loco. The yard tower is scratchbuilt , & taken from the tower seen in the movie 'The Train' starring Burt Lancaster. It's him on the footbridge. The goods shed too, is scratchbuilt from a French yard shed pic in ww2.

Bob.
