56" Drivers for the HO Athearn/Roundhouse 2-6-0

Wow!

Does those smaller wheels make any difference in pulling ability or Motor behavior?

The motor runs the same and it is hard to compare pulling power because the new drivers don't have traction tires.

Have you tried it with a longer train than it used to pull on the old factory drivers?

It will pull the 10 car trains I use on my Sn3.5 layout. I never pulled a train with the original drivers but the 4-4-0 will pull at least 18 Roundhouse oldtimers. I did it for cosmetic reasons. I am converting it to an 1870's Sn3.5 1870's mogul.

How do the Bowser 56" drivers compare with the old MDC 51" drivers - i.e. are the Bowser drivers really taller than the MDC?  It's difficult to tell from the photos (after all, 5 scale inches is only about 1.5mm), but the drivers on the converted 2-6-0 appear to be nearly the same size as those on the old MDC 51" driver 2-6-0.

The locomotive is based on the Model Die Casting 2-8-0 which was based on the Maryland and Pennsylvania small 2-8-0. A plan of that loco would give you an boiler plan.

There is a visible difference between the two sizes. The 51" mogul drivers always looked too small.
