YEPPERS! This year I was on a budget. In 2004, I'll be free of budgetary restraints and will be spending far more on my favorite hobby. Good thing--it seems that with each passing year their are more and more 'must have' products available to us. The gods are good!

With manufactureers rising prices it is imposible to spen less for quality items. although you may find deals at train showsor swap meets.

After taking the year off from construction, next year I plan on finishing the track work, wiring & starting the scenery. This will involve spending more than I did this year as I don't plan to back off spending on locomotives or rolling stock.

With the introduction of Broadway Limited's line of sound equipped locomotives, my spending has gotten much higher than the previous years. However, model railroading is my "main" hobby and after working hard all my life, this is my "reward" to myself! Model railroading is a rewarding past-time and virtually, everyone, who sees my layout, gets a real 'kick' out of it! I'm not sure who enjoys it more, the children and their mothers, or , the "grown-up" children!!

I spent a lot in the last couple of years, this year I expect to spend less or about the same. I intend to get some of these recent aquisitions running on a layout.

I have some serious empty nester syndrome, and two bedroom and one den to combine into one train room. That should give me an additional 300 sq. feet to work with.

More. I'm looking at probably doing a dcc system with some sound. Probably less rolling stock since I can't fit all I have on the layout right now. Plan on getting a couple of engines also, plus the usual magazines, books, etc.
Enjoy

I gotta put some of the stuff that I've aquired over the last 4 or 5 years to use on my too often negelected unfinished layout.

I plan to spend less this year, as I have spent about $1500.00 in the past two years.
This year the track will be laid and operations will start.

I will be spending quite a bit more next year on a layout. I am building a new house and half the upstairs will be used for a logging HO layout

After a lifetime of waiting, my kids are grown and gone, my child support is paid, and I have time, room, and money to do what I want. I am finally going to build a layout.

Whether I do or not is anybody's guess.

hoping to get a few bargains at the train shows this year and will have to spend mostly on track and turnouts for the layout but hey...it's only money isn't it?

I would love to spend much more this year but school is expensive and I don't have a lot of money to spare so sadly I can't spend a lot. If anyone is looking to sell any N scale CSX locomotives in NY3 or NY4 paint (Atlas or Kato) please E-mail me my current roster is small and i wi***o expand it.

I'm going to build a room 35 ft x 15 ft for a HO layout in the new year. This will cost me heaps. Fortunately I have about 350 ft of track and 36 sets of points (turnouts as you call them) plus 30 engines and a couple of hundred pieces of rolling stock, so I will probably only need another few hundred feet of track. I now have to decide whether to go DCC or not.

Anyhow, Merry Xmas to all who read this.

I am unsure as we will have to wait and see what the modelling world will bring us. My layout is constantly work in progress. There is always something new to do and we never know what the manufacturers will bring us

I will be spending more, the room for my little kingdom is almost finished, and soon I will be starting my new layout. I saved what I could from my last one, and have been adding to my collection while I did not have a layout, but the major expense will be lumber and track. I will be spending a lot more time on my railroad and a little less on watching the real ones, spent 3 years planning it, now it is time to start construction.

I plan on spending more. I am really getting into the N scale now and am starting to enjoy my current layout. Now that I have had a chance to see what is out there I will be building a new and better setup.

After spending like mad over the past few years, assembling a roster of high-quality steam engines and freight cars, I'm finally at the point where I don't NEED anything else, besides the odd bucket of scenery material or bundle of flextrack. I'll be focusing on finally building my home layout this upcoming year or two, so the spending will go down considerably!

Purchases in 2004 depends on the new products offered. My modeling period is 1955 in the Southeast which limits what I buy. Hopefully 2004 will be as productive for me as 2003 was - a great year.
