What will happen if i put a second speaker in series to the first, to a loksound?

If you wire them in series you will be OK - more than 100ohms. If wired in paralell the impedance will be less than 100ohms and it will most likely overload the amp in the decoder and it will either shut down or burn out.

I have two 16mm (0.63") speakers in my Stewart U25B. They sell these with a suitable enclosure in their product range. The sound is OK, but with such small speakers not that loud, I haven't tried out other speakers in the range that way yet.

Try this link http://www.tonystrains.com/products/esu_standard.htm the speakers are at the foot of the page.

Not sure I agree with that...

... the main problem with amplifiers is when you use less than the recommended impedance speakers, so if you used a 8ohm speaker with an amp rated for 16ohm speakers you would damage the amp. I'm not sure it holds the other way round, what is likely to happen is that they will get a lot quieter, but I don't think it will damage the decoder. As I said previously ESU actually sell as set a pair of 16mm 100ohm speakers in their product range; so what I suspect is that if you put a pair of their larger speakers in series they will still work but be significantly quieter than if they are run singly.

I'm sure that there are others on this forum more qualified to comment on whats going on technically than I am.

Notice it doesnt mention what OHMs the speakers are for the dual setup......It would probably be a mistake to assume they are both 100ohms.  They are probably 2X50ohms....but this is only a guess.

If loosing a decoder doesnt hurt your wallet, there would be no harm in trying this type of setup.

David

They are 2x50 ohms.I know that because i have one set of them.
