If you read the fine print, you will see why it is priced so high. It is in its original cellophane wrapper in Museum quality condition and is sealed inside a beautiful acrylic display.
In other words, "it is junk wrapped in plastic." The last statement about the two felt pieces on the back is unreal.
Are there any TYCO collectors out there that can give us a real price on this set???? I would guess we will not hear from any collectors on this item.
I am sorry! I just could not resist the comment.
HERE IS A TYCO CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO ELECTRIC TRAIN SET THAT IS STILL SEALED IN IT'S ORIGINAL CELLOPHANE WRAPPER IN MUSEUM QUALITY CONDITION THAT IS ALSO SEALED INSIDE A BEAUTIFUL ACRYLIC DISPLAY CASE MADE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY!!! THIS IS REALLY A GREAT CONVERSATION PIECE FOR YOUR TRAIN ROOM OR FOR THE DIE-HARD TYCO COLLECTOR LIKE ME-THE CASE HAS TWO KEYHOLES ON THE BACK FOR WALL MOUNTING!!! OR IT CAN STAND ALONE-AS MOST OF US KNOW, THE CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO IS PROBABLY TYCO'S MOST FAMOUS TRAIN SET AND THE GRAPHICS ON THE BOX ARE JUST AWESOME AND IN SOME WAY TAKE US BACK IN TIME TO OUR CHILDHOOD-PRODUCED IN 1976, THIS SET IS HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER-WILL BE PROFESSIONALLY PACKED AND SHIPPED VIA UPS-SHIPPING WILL BE 50.00-THE PRICE TAG ON THIS SET IS PRETTY STEEP I KNOW BUT I'VE HAD A LOT OF OFFERS TO SELL AND I'M FINALLY GOING TO TRY IT-IF NOT THAT'S OK TOO BECAUSE I LOVE THIS SET-GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!( THE TWO WHITE PIECES ON THE BACK ARE FELT STRIPS SO IF THIS IS WALL MOUNTED THE SCREWS WON'T TOUCH THE ACTUAL SET!!)

What part of the whole description isn't unreal? The description of the graphics is incredible, uh, incredulous, uh, really something!
I'm wondering if this guy just buys a lot of stuff at garage sales and had the train set and a display case laying around and figured if he put them together and gave it a real "slick" write-up some gullable star eyed innocent would cough up the big bucks for it.
Otherwise it just doesn't make any sense.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
One day and fourteen hours left and no bids. I can't believe it!!!
How can those "TYCO COLLECTORS" lay off a deal like this??
I'm sure there will be a bloody sniping war tomorrow.
Have fun with your trains
WC makes a very good point indeed!!!
Six hours left, no bids. I'm sure the snipers are cleaning their bidding rifles, er, programs. I fear for the worst.
Oh the Humanity.....
He talked that POS up so well, someone will probably be convinced and snipe it.
Oh lordy...
just like that empty, tattered box selling for $5100! WTF?

Being a coin collector I know that what people think is junk may very well be gold to the right collector. Case in point I have a complete set of Mercury Dimes. My best looking dime is a 1944 D mint state AU 68. It looks brand new and is Slabed (means seller sent it to be graded) On a good day worth say $125.00. That is a real good day I will added. Then I have a worn out G-5 (means it looks like a POS) 1922-D. Something like a Tyco dime. It is worth $1200.00 on a bad day and normaly $2000.00 and Good day $3500.00.
To the right person it could be worth that kind of money. I bet none of you would give $10.00 for the dime.
Want to guess what I sold this for?

Did you sell it for a dime? Any way the saying here is "One mans trash is another mans tresure" and that saying goes right to that Tyco set.

Is that a six pack rooster manifold for a BB mopar? I haven't seen one of those in ages!
Oh yeah, we're here to marvel at that "wonderful" Tyco set!
3hrs and 24min to go and not a soul has dared to touch it!
I've got to check in on this later to see if anyone actually bid on it.
One hour to go, people!
Cue Jeopardy music please.
What is the Ebay list fee on that 400+ dollar price?

Apparently so Jeff.
Lionel collector, stuck in an N scaler's modelling space.
Well, that's it. Model railroaders all over the country are kicking themselves for not jumping at this chance.
I wonder if he'd take $5 for the acrylic case?
Oops, spoke too soon. It's already been relisted, and this time it's $60 off! With these rock-bottom prices, he must be INSANE!!!!

He is probably all excited thinking that the potential demand is huge based on the number of hits the first auction got. Of course he probably does not know that 90% of these were us clowns looking at the auction progress!

Your kidding? Right? You should send him the link of what we've been talking about that peice of junk. Then maybe he'll lower the price 20 bucks more.
Here we are in the home stretch again, the price has been slashed to $345, there's 45 minutes left, and still no bidders. What's wrong?
C'mon, peeps! Show the guy some love!
This reminds of that dude dancing around in the commericials and elevator singing "I got it on eBay!" Sorry, I had to share. It is quite the jingle..
FYI- It was an eBay commercial from 2 years ago.

And most of those people who looked at it clicked on the link at the beginning of this thread! heh heh.
There are alot of impulse buyers and suckers out there! Kind of reminds me of Ralph Cramdon from the old show The Honey Mooners who was always pinning his hopes on some sucker dream to make money and his poor wife Alice dealing with it. It's almost depressing what people will try to do to scam others, and likewise depressing that suckers will fall for the scams. Many ebay sellers prey on those kind of people - looks like we have one there.
THere are collectors markets for things many would consider junk. Should we label those things junque? I mean "collectors" train sets which are cheap toys pained for race car drivers, or some other special interested. They are otherwise junky toys but aimed at collectors. I doubt this fall in that category tho.

That would be funny!!! Too bad E-Bay would filter it out. They don't want people setting up side deals that they don't get a cut of. (Though I guess a cut of $20 is better than no cut at all!!!)
