Great photos guys.
I haven't been taking photos for a couple of weeks. Here are a couple of updates on our layout.
A mix of some different trees to blend with Larry's backdrop.
Here is rough start on my scratch tunnel portal. There is still plenty to do on this one.
I will try to get some better photos in the morning.

Anything is possible if you do not know what you are talking about.

I call that great progress, Sue and Larry. Really good! Are we having fun?
A railfan was taking pictures on the Heartland Division yesterday.
First photo shows the eastbound Heartland Zephyr passing the grain elevators in Prairie View.
Second photo shows the same train stopping at the Blackhawk depot.
Third photo shows a westbound freight headed back to the GN connection with run-through GN units and some cargo headed to the Pacific Northwest.

Nice pics everyone, Gearjammer, I espesially like the wooden tunnel. Let us see pics as you go.
Not much going on in the trainroom this week, but I did take some pics of a train that has been parked outside the shop where I work, waiting for wheat harvest. I thought some of the pics were worth posting.
I haven't gotten nearly as far as you other guys posting in this thread. But I feel kinda happy about being able to report that actual construction finally has started
This weekend I mounted a shelf in my living room, printed out the trackplan and put it on top of the shelf - discovered that I had made a fortunate mistake in purchasing a shelf that was 20" wide instead of 16".
Not a problem - I added an extra team track (far end on left) and will have room for a road and some buildings between the viewer and the track.
Did a few cardboard mockups of buildings and structures to make sure it wouldn't get too cramped:
And made the two modules of framework which will rest on the shelf:
I intend to make a divider inside the two frames, with foam for scenery on top, and running electrical cables beneath the divider (just ignore the text in Norwegian - unless you can read Norwegian, of course) :
Well, it aint much to look at yet, and may never become much to look at - but it is mine, and construction has finally started ! Yihaaa!
Big grin, Stein

Crandell,
Larry is still talking about how great this trestle is. I wish we had a place to span such a deep gully.
Thanks for motivating the rest of us to work harder.
Really Great work everyone. This is really all I have been doing for the last week, just messing around a little here a little there. I'm trying to revamp my layout a little ,
starting to re-work some trees and grass, adding a little here and there to get a better feel of the layout.
Question for you all tho, Is it just me or is the lighting horrible? I'm using those Flourecent light bulbs (100 watt) I think , but the lighting to me looks wrong? Not sure if it is but thought I would ask..Anyway Great work ,love the pics everyone ; I look forward to this everyweek to see how everyones progress is going.

Chessie... Bleccch!
I always equated the Chessie paint scheme with disco music and leisure suits... Things from the 70's that we would just as soon forget...

Lee,
Paul3 from my club thinks like you do, He's called my Chessie stuff the "Cheesey System" for years. Of coarse he also hates the WM "Circus Paint" too. I call all his stuff the NH "New Hampshire" railroad, a slam to the McGinnis scheme.
wm3798 - you're a harrrrd man.
This is my first photo posting to this site so I hope it works.
This is my newest loco a Riva Rossi Allegheny 2-6-6-6.

Sue and Larry, thank-you both for your thoughtfulness. It means a lot, coming from you, that you find my work attractive. Such compliments are really easy on the ears, you know?
For the most recent posters: Bill54, nice H8 there! Would it be forward of me to ask how wide your curves are, and how it looks and runs. If I were to get another steamer (must resist...must resist), I would be drooling over that baby the most.
C&O Fan, we'll happily waive your late fee if you can keep up the good work....and photographic evidence, of course (ahem).
Nice modelling all around, everyone, and thanks for keeping the thread robust and interesting. I always enjoy seeing what everyone is doing.

I to drooled over the H* but my curves are to tight. But that steam loco of Bob G has me near

selector, I got the Allegheny on Wednesday last week. In order to check it out I set up a temporary oval. The track it's on is Atlas True Track with 24" radius. It works ok but doesn't look good.
The layout will have a minimum 31 1/4" radius Main Line with #8 turnouts. It still may not look quite right but it wasn't too bad on the 24".
So far I've only got the what will be hidden connecting sub-roadbedfrom the upper level to the lower level nearly done. I still have another 150" to go. The main line will have a very similar radius.
Yesterday (Sunday, May 20, 2007) we were able to tour the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. And we rode in the cab of the Southern #6133 EMD FP-7 for the 25 minute ride though the grounds. Here are a few photos:

Geeeezzz,...I hate it when folks post their clearly excellent stuff and call it "..not quite finished."
Of course, it just gives me something to shoot for myself. Really nice, Mark. I wish I could get the photo to enlarge, but it won't. Would you be averse to sending me a full-sized one?
