We don't know what you look like. How do we know the person in the pictures is really you? How do we know that the trains are REALLY yours and not your fathers?

With 18" radius you don't need a Challenger or Big Boy. While the locos will take the turns (looking as comical as a Laurel and Hardy routine while they do it) the tenders will definitely have issues. Check out Cudaken's thread titled "Genesis Big Boy tender rolls like a brick".

So you freely admit that you were lying the other times.  Why should we expect anything different this time?...

... whats your question....?

There are a number of potential questions in unionpacificchuck's topic:

How many periods, commas, question marks, etc., etc. did I leave out of this post?; and

shouldn't "fake" have had an "l" in it?

Okay, unionpacificchuck, you got your question in; now I have a reciprical question for you: Do you know how to use the word "ridiculous" in a sentence?

Think about this: you have a 4 X 6 layout and you are going to squeeze 18 inch RADII curves onto this platform.  Now, as an N Scaler I would have no problems with 18 inch radius curves; they scale out to 33 inch radius in HO Scale which is, by anybody's standard, a broad curve.  Eighteen inches in HO Scale scales out to 9.8 inches in N Scale; on any of my layouts that tight a radius would only be found on industrial trackage; in fact, you would be hard pressed to have found radii short of 12 inches on any of my last couple of layouts all of which were built on four foot wide platforms.

Your topic post indicated that you have a Big Boy and a Challenger on the way; I can understand how, if you are a Onion Specific modeler, your interest will automatically be drawn to Big Boys and Challengers.  Fine! I am interested in Appalachian crossing railroads and my interest is, therefore, naturally drawn to B&O EM1s, and C&O Alleghenies as well as DM&IR Class M3/M4s none of which are currently available at affordable prices for my budget.  Were that situation to change I am sure I would acquire a handful of these - this would have the effect of relocating me from "now" to the 'mid-50s" but I intend my next/future layout to have 21.5 inch radius curves.  That scales out to 39.5 inches in HO Scale, curves broad enough to handle Big Boys and Challengers without looking blatantly "ridiculous" doing it which is exactly what they are going to look like on 18 inch radius curves.

Your question addresses the purchase of a locomotive with the $150.00 plus burning a hole in your jeans' pocket; I'll answer by saying this: the rapidly growing trite bromide says that it is your railroad and you can do as you wish with it but I don't think I would order any more Big Boys or Challengers.

I've been reading UP Chuck's posts for the past week or so.

He posts to get your reaction / attention.  So every time you reply to one of his posts you're giving him exactly what he wants.

If you really want to keep him from posting then stop responding to his posts.  It's as simple as that!
