[:(]I've got too much OTHER stuff beneath and along side the tree to have room for a train. My dog's already wreaking havoc with the ornaments, yet another reason to skip the train setup this year.

Well bah, humbug to anybody without a train under the tree. How can you have a Christmas tree without one? Didn't most us find our first train under the tree?

I have a 15 month old granddaughter and a dog. And I'll have a train. Just means I may switch from O and N gauge to Standard gauge. Lionel built them to last back then. And they're too heavy to pick up, to big to taste.What a deal!!!

I'm 65 years old,and have had an electric train under my tree since I was 7 months old.I will have the G scale Polar Express this year,but still have all my original lionel trains.

I bought a Bachmann G scale train featuring a 4-6-0 Mogul with sound and smoke back in '98 and it has been going around our tree ever since then. It even spent three years in Germany doing it's Christmas duty.

I SURE WILL HAVE A TRAIN UNDER MY TREE THIS YEAR AND EVERY YEAR. THATS HOW I GOT MY FIRST TRAIN 44 YEARS AGO, UNDER THE TREE. AND OUR DOG DOESNT BOTHER THE TRAIN , IN FACT HE STAYS AWAY FROM IT WHEN IT IS RUNNING.

Couldn't quite fit it under the tree but I have an 8'X7'9" layout in the living room cantilevered over the stairs to the family room (I have a raised ranch) I'm running Lionel, K-Line and MTH trains showcasing a 305 Hellgate bridge and Dept 56 knockoff ceramic village. Been working on it since the weekend before thanksgiving and should be finished by the weekend.

While I'm a dyed-in-the-wool HO modeler, there'll be a classic 1950's-style, 5x9 foot, detailed Lionel layout, complete with operating accessories, under my tree - just as there has been for 20 years now. My kids loved it and now my grand kids do too.

Won't be under the Christmas tree, but will now be part of an 1890's Christmas scene that my wife puts up every year. Only problem is that I model HO, and the figures and houses are about 25% larger than O scale, so it looks like a 'park' type railroad for kids to ride.

Oh yes, MTH AMTRAK Superliner's - will reflect on this past summer's trip from HARRIS PA to FLAGSTAFF AZ thur CHICAGO. Outdoor as well, G Gauge year 'rnd,
0 temp or 12" of snow - no problem, only if windy!!!!! up to 3-4" with train snowplow;
12" or more = I am the snowplow with a shovel and feet walking the rail!!! the eve's 8am-12midnight; Christmas Day & New Year's Day 8am-12midnight as well. Live Steam sometimes, just steamup Ruby 'In The House' - on rare occasions.

A friend of mine passed away 2 years ago after undergoing cancer surgery on his esophagus. His last words to his caretaker were " if this doesn't work out the way we hope, give my Christmas train to Al, he'll know what to do with it." Yes, Willie, the train will be under our tree again this year. and every year as long as we survive. Merry Christmas to All.

I will be putting a N-Scale train around a small tree in my bedroom on top of my entertainment center. I have no room to put a train around the tree in the living room.

Christmas isn't Christmas without the Lionel or HO under the tree. It's been a tradition in my family for over 50 years and we"re not stopping now. My granddaughters will get to see Grandpa's trains ,under the tree, for the first time .

While visiting in the Smokey Mountains 2 weeks ago, I came across a great 0-6-0 in a hobby shop which is pulling my custom painted cars right now under the glow of the lights on the tree. Merry Christmas to all from central Mississippi!

Actually I am just getting into trains this year. My wife has 'donated' the Dining room table for the season -. so our trains along with our Christmas Village can be combined into one display. This also means that trains are not hidden by the tree.

With no table available that means no relatives to feed :)

OF course I will, the only question is which one! Either the battery operated large scale 4-4-0 set or the Thomas the tank engine set. Either way, it's alway fun! This year the decision is being left up to my littlest engineer, age 7.

Its not under the tree, but every year for the past six years I've set up a Christmas layout for the grandkids to enjoy. It started out on just an oval shaped coffee table and has grown to a 4x6 frame with a foam table top. Running N scale with my favorite line Central of Georgia and using porcelin Christmas theme structures lit with bulbs. Last year I added a bridge structure over a pond. This year I'll add a tunnel. It gives the little ones a little added magic and gives me some good practice on techniques.

We decorate our house with xmas lights and have 3 loops of G scale in the front yard in front of the tree. The kids love it.

For a couple of weeks our living room features a beautiful Quebec Balsam tree carrying the hundreds ornaments bearing the memories of Christmas past, but also carrying new lighting Computer generated with music. Many touches include minitures of trains and villages, and for that period of time, my train rooms have their visitors and a place to operate Little Creek Lines and Windermere R & R but the beauty of the tree in our living room with visiting family and friends takes 1st place in our home. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Hobby and Rail fans around the world. May God grant us all a peaceful 2004
