The storms passed overnight and left us with cold and wet day.
There were many people who attended this show and the Project 819 4-8-4 engine is hooked up to the tender and seems to be moving forward. I understand the backshop building which houses the museum, 819 and the trainshow recently had roof and brick work done. Apparently that work was expensive but a success as they were able to open up some new spaces.
There were several Modular Clubs at the show, Crooked Rails was one and a G scale Arkansas Garden railroad was another. There were a number of other layouts running in a variety of places throughout the show. The children were quite happy watching the bigger trains run.
There were some gems to be found in the vendor tables. Some tables resembled parts boxes containing 30 year old trains that were in poor condition. Other tables had books, references, photos etc. A little bit of everything.
By noon there were many people in the building. Many more than I recall seeing in years past. I think we are doing well in this part of the USA.
Will the 819 run again? I dont know. Her boiler jacket has not yet been installed, her boiler top showed some places where work is going on. One of the desiel engines (A Alco C-628? Not sure) got a fresh coat of paint this year. There is simply not enough room to stand back and photograph this big beast.
And what did I do after I left the show? Visit my LHS to get some more stuff. =)
Do I have pictures? Maybe. But lighting was pretty bad for the camcorder. I might get a good frame or two to post later.
