Ok

CP - straight forward ie Canadian Pacific
5415 - is the number on the first locomotive I bought when I returned to the hobby after a long absence.

Gordon

Brought to you by the letters C.P.R. as well as D&H!

 K1a - all the way

And what, pray tell, was that point?

Just wondering,
Daniel

P.S. Remember: the subject is the noun performing the action, the direct object is the noun undergoing the action, and the indirect object is the noun to which the action is performed. Want an example? "I bought a computer for my uncle." In this sentence, "I" is the subject, "computer" is the direct object, and "my uncle" is the indirect object. Additionally, a sentence needn't have a direct nor indirect object, just a subject and a predicate.....My grammar teacher would be horrified. Or, maybe surprised that I actually remember this stuff. Now, as for prepositional phrases.....[:)][:D][8D].

I am such a snob.

My user name Is puffie40 because I have a favorite stuffed Rabbit named Puffie. [:p]

The 40 Came in when I was getting a Hotmail eMail account. "Puffie" (Of all the choices of things to call myself) was already used and it came up with some suggestions. I chose "Puffie40" Because to me it's easy to remember. However, in game rosters, I prefer to just call myself "Jackrabbit" [;)]

I got my start in railroading as a Milwaukee Road switchman in Milwaukee. My initial assignment was to a location named "Five Rings." On the hand-cranked company telephone system, a call directed to the switchtender at that location was signalled by five long rings, hence the name.

trainjunky-

"Catenary" is probably in your dictionary, with its single "t". It's not spelled correctly in your post; you're probably grumbling and ashamed about now, right?

We all make mistakes. Tonight I've spent more time editing my posts than I spent typing them in the first place, and even in this sentence I've had to go back and correct my errant keystrokes several times. Notice, though, how I worked in both versions (contraction & possessive) of the examples you mentioned!

I'm such a friggin brown-noser...

The "trainjunky"part of my screen-name is fairly obvius (I hope). I figured that it would be better than something involving "railfan." The "29" is from a steamer which I like (and, surprise, surprise, it's no.29)!!!
And I support Avondaleguy: let's get rid of bad grammar[:)]! To whomever might be interested: impact should never be used as a verb, and someone needs to submit railroad terminology to the dictionary companies[:D], especially "railfan!!!" And finally, remember to use your and you're, and its and it's, correctly[8D].
And with that, I'm going to go back to horrifying my old grammar teacher with "hoghead," "cattenary" (surprisingly, it's not a word found in the dictionary), and other non-dictionary slang[;)].
And, bigboy4884 is using a new signature...oh well[:)][:D].

Not nearly as grammatically perfect as I would lead you to believe[^],

LightBender, it's what I do for a living. More commonly called a gemcutter. I put those little tiny polished flat facets on rocks to make them sparkly and convince your girlfriends and wives to waste good modelrailroading money making themselves feel pretty.

JETROCK- Hey, I just gotta say, "Illuminati" is one of the best games ever! The collectible version seemed to take a lot away from it, but they did the right thing by releasing a packaged full set so that it could be played with the old rules. My only problem is finding somebody else to play against.

My forum name... refers to the run-down crime-ridden section of town that I call home (Avondale) and is ironic in that you'd never expect a superhero to emerge from here. YET HERE I AM, ready to squelch bad grammar wherever it may be found, able to leap the tall piles of laundry which litter my floor, strong enough to cut styrene with my bare hands (and a sharp X-acto blade)!

Just a whacked-out screen name I came up with for forums way back when the net was young, and an identity that stuck.

After being away from MRR for about 15 years I came to this forum because MR mag was and still is my favorite mag. However, when I joined the forum I had no idea what name, handle, to choose. Now that I have named my RR I would like to change my forum name to reflect my RR name.

Is there a way to change your forum name/handle?

Although it doesn't have anything to do with my RR name I thought it was a cool nickname so have re-signed up as Snake. "Snake" is the nickname for a switchman.

Well, the Sask in my name is an abbreviation for Saskatchewan, the province I live in. Tinplater refers to my love of collecting and operating "tinplate" toy trains.

Well, mines obvious. I choose my name in honor of my all time favorite locomotive, the Big Boy. The 4884 came from it's 4-8-8-4 wheel arangment. But you knew that, didn't you? [;)]

I got my username from three things:
1. my real last name is Parr (and no, I don't hear nearly as many golf cliches about my last name as you might think)
2. I like Spanish, even though I know very little and what I do know I'm very lousy at
3. having mostly caps seems to stand out
I use the same username (or some varient, i.e., EL_PARRo, elparro, etc.)on every message and forum on which I am registered, as well as my e-mail address and my AIM address, although EL PARRo was already taken on AIM, so I just added my jersey number from baseball.
huh?
