Be specific, Ship Union Pacific!! Road of sreamliners. Serves all the west. Bill Leider has the layout of my dreams. Someday i will rise to his greatness and have the most true to blue-print replica of the Union Pacific railroad in Utah and Idaho in HO scale.

UPNUT:

I'm not the world's biggest UP fan, but if you 'scratched' the City of LA, I'd like to see a photo of the 'funny nose' E-unit (E-2, BTW).  That was one unusual and attractive diesel.  Wish someone would put it out commercially (the City of San Francisco also had one, back in the late 'thirties).  Back then, UP sported some really unique passenger trains with their early diesels.

Oh, PS:  I only have one UP steamer--a "Sports Model" 4-8-2 in Challenger Colors, from BLI.  Neat loco, but it's DC/DCC and since I'm DC, it takes WAY too much power to get moving.

I only own 2 UP cars, One is a walthers cleaning car(at the time no choice in roadname) and a really beat up Athearn 52' Gon with scrap load.

My apologies, I didn't realize by shortening your forum nickname that I'd insulted you.  Still like to see a photo of the E-2 you scratched.

Oh, and PS:  At 67 I think I'm a little old to be called a 'Dude', don't you think?  Besides, that moniker isn't even used in High School, anymore.

I have one:

Atlas (older) GP40-2 #912

This engine made the transition from my old MoPac merger era layout to my new BNSF 2000 era layout. I have an interchange with UP and #912 switches the UP side of the interchange yard.

I run strictly diesel locomotives. My layout leans more towards the SP but since the merger I started running some UP stuff but now wish I hadn't done that. I got it into my head that I'll have to eventually change everything to UP to keep up with the times but now I'm leaning strongly to changing it all back to SP only. The harbor mist gray and armor yellow doesn't do anything for me like the scarlett red and SP gray does...Anyway, I own:

2 AC4400CW's

2 GP38-2's

1 GP 50

1 70MAC

in UP colors ...chuck

Oooh I think I can actually answer this one:

Athearn SD40-2, Athearn GP40 (boxed set)
Athearn SW7 (dummy)
Proto 2000 E6B

UP is one road name that doesn't hang around the round house too long.  Anything that comes in yellow paint is an immediate candidate for the paint shop.

- Trix Big Boy

- Rivarossi Challenger

- P2k Alco FA/FB set

- Overland SD-40-2 #3300, "UP pulling for United Way" scheme

That's all I can conjure up without actually going downstairs and taking a peek...Smile [:)]

Hi unionpacificnut

Who's Union Pacific??

Sums up my interest in that particular railroad

I do not own anything at all branded for that company and make a deliberate point of not purchasing anything UP branded at all

To the point where once spotted I move to a different area of shelving where nothing UP is located and the two UP cars I had went to the local tip

regards John

Not much UP stuff here unless you count a C&NW waffle side boxcar and SP lumber car. It's not that I hate Union Pacific it's just my layout is set in Western PA and I figure it's best to have most of your freightcar fleet be from roads that operated in your railroad's area. I do plan to pick up a couple UP boxcars and maybe an auto rack in the future though.

1 - 4-8-2 Lt. Mountain

1 - 2-8-8-2 Mallet

2 - 8-40 CW's

Later on this year, I hope to buy a Challenger and set of smooth side passenger cars to pull with it.

Sure would like to see pictures of the scratch built turbine and City of San Francisco! They should put you in the Guinesse Book of World Reconds as the best 12 year old scratch builder of all time.

I might have a few (dozen) units, mostly diesel, including C45ACCTe's (ES44AC's) SD 90's, 70's, a DD40, AC4400's, Dash 8's and Dash 9's, Gp 15-1, 38-2.  I also have some renumbered SP units and all SP units will eventually be re-numbered.  All are DCC.

I'm curious about the MAC's.  Is this a concept unit?  I don't think the UP ever rostered MACs.  Currently they have 1448 SD 70M's on the roster.

You have got to be kidding.  Unless UP can lay claim to 4449, I don't have ANYTHING -even in my collection of nostalgic steam.

Hey, guys, I just realized that we've got an 11 year-old future model railroader here, who I slammed for calling me "Dude".

So let's ease back a little and share some stuff with him, okay?

UnionPacificNut--

As I said in my previous post, I don't have a lot of UP equipment, but that's because I model Rio Grande and Southern Pacific.  However, I do have a "Sports Model" 4-8-2 mountain painted in UP "Challenger" colors, and I have an E-6 A-B-B diesel set that I use to pull my City of San Francisco passenger train.  I'm going to sell off the 4-8-2, not because I don't like UP, but because it really doesn't fit my RR.  I'm keeping the City of San Francisco, though, because it ran on SP over Donner Pass between Ogden Utah and Oakland, California.

So, what part of the UP territory do you live in?  I think a lot of us would like to know.

Hoople,

First he claimed he didn't have an age, then he was 13, then 12, now 11.  He's two years older than my granddaughter, who is honest.  Now I have a cellphone that doesn't take pictures, but I also know that when I claim to have a best seller, I'd best present the reviews.  <g>

It amazes me how people become obsessed with other people over simple stuff to the point of stalking them on the web. Scary stuff!!

If he attempted to scratch build something like those particular items at his age, I am sure they look decent relative to his experience and skill level. At least he ain't out smoking crank and stealin' cars.

Edit: As far as the age thing goes, he may have been reluctant to post his age because he was afraid that some folks would not respond to him because of how young he is. I believe in givin' everyone a fair shake in a situation like this until they do me wrong.
