Does anyone have Locomotive Cyclopedia Vol. 2?
Posted by Morpar on Sunday, April 1, 2007 9:27 PM

I noticed that (used to be) Mainline Modeler has (had) Locomotive Cyclopedia Vol. 2 available. I have volume 1, and have found it to be a very good reference. Now, I've been seeing this for sale for quite some time, and I've got to ask, what is the difference from vol. 1? Does it cover the other drawings that Mainline Modeler published while it was for sale that weren't in volume 1? Does it have stuff that was never printed in the magazine at all? In other words, why should I kick out another $60 for this book?

My main concern (for right now) has to do with the drawings they originally ran in the magazine for the D&RGW L105 4-6+6-4. I am working on making a Bowser Challenger into a close representation of the L105, and every little bit of information helps. The original MM article had only the right side drawings, no left side. Does this "new" cyclopedia perhaps have the left side too? Or perhaps some better photos of the left side than I have been able to come up with thus far? This messed-up inquiring mind would like to know. None of the hobby shops or book stores I have been to of late has a copy on-hand that I can look at to answer my questions, and I hate to order or purchase it with no clue of what is in it, so I now pose it to the masses here! Thanks in advance for the help.

Good Luck, Morpar
