Hi,
I did this on the Trains Magazine fourms and no one answered, so I'm going to try my luck here. I was wondering what the locomotive roster was for BN in 1988 or 1989. If you can't find those dates, could you please tell me it any way. Or could you please give a site I can look at. Thanks for your help.

This doesn't give the entire roster, but does show which locos were painted into white face and tiger stripe schemes. I included executive scheme as well even though it was 1990 when it started.

In hardcopy form, I would recommend Del Grosso's book "Burlington Northern 1980-1991 Annual". Once you find a copy, you'll note there's a 1991 locomotive roster. After that, there's a dispositions roster--you can use that with the former to work backwards to rosters for the dates you're interested in.
If you're not of a mind to wait until you get a copy of this book, there's a full BN roster findable at www.archive.trainpix.com/INDEX.HTM (I believe I got that right). On this one, the roster gives you dates built and dates retired. It's more work than the above, but it's readily available. In doing the work, you'll familiarize yourself with the roster; so I'm thinking you'll find it kind of fun.
