Best way to clean a airbrush gun ???
Posted by Robby P. on Monday, March 12, 2007 3:24 PM
I got my new airbrush gun today so I can do some weathering.   I took auto-body a few years ago and we just used paint thinner to clean the guns.  Is that what I should use to clean this or is there something better? Thanks

If I use a airbrush, I prefer Acylric water based paints. That way I can dunk the whole airbrush into a Bucket of fresh water and blast it until clean.

It depends on they type of paint you use.

Thinner works great if you are using solvent based paints.

There are diffrent brands of 'airbrush cleaner' as well.

Personally I use polly scale paints. I will run a bit of distilled water through the gun then hand clean with airbrush cleaner. As you probablly learned in A/B class, clean your guns after each session.

I use Rubbing alcohol to clean my airbrush out. I also soak the parts to the gun in a cup of alcohol.    Kevin

All of the above plus pick up some pipe cleaners to keep the tubes on the bottles clean.

ditto all so far. but there's nothing that beats a good old disassembly and a bright light to see that it's really clean. Not maybe every time but every time you do it you'll be glad you did! Have fun.
