Problem solved- joining Atlas and Peco c55 track
Posted by CSXFan on Monday, March 5, 2007 10:44 PM

Hi all,

About a month ago someone asked how to join together Atlas and Peco code 55 track. Having been told by a friend how to do this, I responded and said that it was easiest to put a c80 rail joiner on the Peco track and then smash one end of it to support the atlas track. Well, today I found that this doesn't work at all. I went through about 30 rail joiners trying to get this method to work but I was getting nowhere.

I was about to just forget the whole thing when I decided to search the internet for a better way. On the Atlas forum someone mentioned that he filed the bottom of the Peco rails until they were flush with the Atlas track. So I broke out the dremel and used a cutoff disk to trim away at the bottom of the rails. It worked PERFECT! The extra flange on the bottom of the rail actually flaked off so that it looked like regular c55 rail. It now matches up perfectly with the Atlas c55 track, even with no filing on the top of the rail. Anyway, sorry for misleading anyone with the info I posted before. I guess from now on I will try things out before I shoot my mouth off!

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space...Wink
