B&ML No.90 was given that number to reflect it's original cost to the RR.....$90.00!

It used to run from the port town of Belfast, Me. to the interchange with the MEC at Burnham Junction, Me. 33 miles away. Two years ago the rails in Belfast were taken up and for the first time in nearly 140 years Belfast was without a railroad. The rails now end at the city limits. The new headquarters of the railroad is in Unity, Me. It continues on as a tourist road and I think it's America's third oldest continuously operating railroad.
Canondale61 wrote:I was just wondering I live in Maine and have been to Unity a few times. I am actually closer to the Sandy River and Rangely Lakes RR since I live in Farmington. I was wondering if there is somehow a way to exchange these pictures since I truly love the history side of things. My great grandfather use to travel from Johnstown Pa on the PRR to Farmington then on up into Northern Maine to cut lumber for the winter then back to Pa to manage his farm. Just a thought I will add a pic as soon as I can get it scanned.
Bruce Cooper and I have written and collected a lot of info and pics of the B&ML. He has a webpage dedicated to it and so do I. Much of the info is the same, though I've kept updating mine. I don't think he has.
My page, which includes a ton of info, is here: http://jeffreywimberly.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=shortlines&action=display&thread=1154549258 I think you'll have to register for the site (it's free) and then go to "Short Lines" and it's in there. You are welcome to add any info there if you like.
