i have been looking at 0n30 layouts on the web and i have been seeing pepole using sn3 on 0n30 becuse of the smaller cabs and other things. but i had a question of my own, using the sn3 locos on an 0n30 layout would you have to re gauge the wheels?

i can redo the coupler's and other small projects, but as everyone probably is im a little hesatant to take apart the locomotives and make cuts or exspand the wheels.

yes, you would have to regauge the wheels.

the gauge for On30 is 16.5mm (same as HO scale)

The gauge for Sn3 is 14.3mm - not compatable.

where you have "been seeing pepole using sn3 on 0n30 becuse of the smaller cabs and other things." that probably refers to using *parts* of Sn3 locomotives to create On30 locomotives, such as cabs and domes and whatnot, but not the actual Sn3 mechanisms..(unless they were regauged)
