For those of you interested in the upcoming release of the Roundhouse "critter"
industrial switcher, there is a picture of one at http://vigenconstruction.com/elevatrp.htm
It's a distant arial photo, but it gives you an idea of the size of the unit compared to a standard covered grain hopper.
I hope it's heavy enough that it has decent electrical pickup and speed control.

If it is the yellow engine in one of the pictures I believe that is one of the ex navy switchers built by EMD using a standard cab and two short hoods for small diesel engines. It appears in the Kalmback book Our GM scrapbook as I recall. I doubt it will have any weight at all as there will be no place to put it. It would almost have to have the motor in the cab. 2-3 cars on level track would be an educated guess.

I've seen similar-sized locos in British OO scale, they can usually handle around 2/3 passenger cars or a short string of 4-wheel freight cars. The motor usually has to protrude into the cab to allow a decent amount of weight to be fitted.
