Problem with track
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, October 19, 2003 8:50 AM
I have a section of track on a completed layout that is under a short tunnel. When my engine gets to this section it slows down and/or stops completely. If I turn out the lights I can see blue spark under the engine from the right side of the track. I want to run my engine at a slower more realistic speed, but can't because it will stop (especially if I add two or more cars) inside the tunnel. I ran the trains all over the tracks before finishing the layout to test it and now this. What is happening?

You might want to check the rail to make sure nothing dropped on top off or inside the rail when you built the tunnel. It sounds like the loco is lifting off the rail slightly.
Good luck

If you can take the track out see what is wrong with it then put it back or replace it with another piece. But I agree with IronRooster, it probably is lifting a tiny bit off of the track.

If there is insulated rail joiners at that point, make sure the polarity is right.

Sounds like the tunnel that I made. My loco was rubbing against the top of the tunnel,
so check your clearence with a standards gauge.
