Why a coin instead of a washer?

You did something to the trunk between steps 10 and 11 besides a coat of paint to simulate bark. I am curious as to your technique for that step.

Looks like it could have some good potential for the N scalers amongst us, or as distant background trees on a hillside in HO. Great detail on the trunk and base, I do like that.
