I assume you are describing the derailment involving train SEED in West Deerfield, MA on PAR.

There were no hazardous chemicals aboard this train, or at least not in the derailment.

There was some leakage, but this was likely a material like corn syrup.

According to the AAR, 06 is on track to be the safest year in railroading yet.  FWIW.  And Baku is in Azerbaijan, by the Russian Republic of Georgia.

So you've found 4 derailments in 3 different countries in the WORLD?

Wow what a trend.

You only hear about the ones that are reported.  There could have been a 1000 yesterday and if nobody reports on them you'll never hear about them.  For example 6 or 7 years ago the the UP derailed a dozen or so cars of grain on an industrial lead in So. California.  Whoppeee do.  If made the national news 3 days straight because it was in So California, it was easy to get video and the UP was in the news.  In the mean time in N Texas the BNSF had a rear end collision with injuries.  Never heard a peep on it.  Why? Because it was out of the way, they didn't have video and the BNSF wasn't in the news.

Never use news reports to figure a trend, they are highly unreliable.

Yes, you did. Baku is the capital city of the nation Azerbaijan. It was a former USSR member (Only to place it geographically and historically, not to insult the USSR). The train which derailed on a 130 km journey between Baku and Georgia was operating between Baku, Azerbaijan and a city in the Nation of Georgia (Also a former USSR member), not the US state of Georgia. These two plus derailments in the US add up to three nations. Also, depending on where the CN derailment occured, it may be 4 nations.

Still, without the Baku/Georgia route, the number of North American incidents is a bit alarming. Although, a good point was made about media coverage.

(Edit) Oh, the oil leakage section was related to the incident involving a tributary river in Minnesota prior to it. Just another example of why we need to make sure our posts are clear.

That makes it 4 derailments involving three countries.

No its just you don't have any awareness of what really goes on to make a judgement.
