I was planning to get 2 sound A units and then add non-sound B units until I had a 6 unit consist but I just realized today that you can't MU sound and non-sound engines on DCBanged Head [banghead]

You can MU the non sound units if you are using DCC.  Simply install a decoder in them.  If you are running DC only, you can still add diodes in series with the non sound unit motors to equalize their speed to the sound units.

It can be done but it takes a little time to get it right.  Once you find out how many diodes to use to equalize the non sound unit, insert the same amount in all of the others ....

The diodes will limit the top speed, but on most layouts, that is not a problem.

OR:  Order it as a (prepainted) 'smart dummy'; * They can fill.

OR: Remove the motor drive from a B unit.

TWO  IM DRIVES should handle anything.

*My choice.

That's nice, man. A pair of F7s would do me very nicely.

Don, I really don't want any dummies. Maybe I'll settle for an ABA (w/ sound) set and just get another brand (most likely stewart) for the 6+ unit lashup.

Either way, I want at least a FP7 and F7B w/ sound.
