Chat Rooms
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, June 12, 2006 1:00 PM
Takling with other model railroaders in chat rooms has been a great source of education, sharing on layout tips, tricks and techniques and to a lesser, extent a forum for buying, selling and trading train items. For example I need to know about Marx cars and how to replace broken couplers when the coupler housing is not so visible. Hope we cana keep this chat room going.

Are you referring to this forum? It is a forum and not a chat room. In chat rooms members post messages in real time, all at once.

Michael,

I think Bob is right - what you seem to be referring to is a forum (sometimes called "bulletin board") and not a chat room. Forums are great because the topics are all archived and you can look at a list of threads and see what interests you.

I've only used chat rooms a few times many years ago, and quickly learned that I have absolutely no use for them. All chat rooms seem to be good for is socializing online, not for sharing/collecting/posting useful information.

By the way, [#welcome] to the forum!

The forums are alot of help on subjects pertaining to the hobby and sometimes you meet people that live close by that share the same modeling interests in your area. You'd be surprised who you'll meet.
