Hi crew,

IMHO, very interesting website and products.

Here's the link: http://www.superbrightleds.com/led_info.htm

Electronics is not one of my strong points so I enjoy reading about interesting products like these bright LEDs.

I'm assuming that with these installed, my P2K SD45 would become an instant "Floodlight"! [:D][8D]

Enjoy exploring![:D][;)]

I have shopped there before. I used the LED pcb board for installing LED lighting in one of my large machine shop buildings. I used two flat 5mm whites and two flat 5mm amber alternated. The overall effect was a softer light compared to just all white.

Talk about a bright Headlight. I put in a 5mm bright white LED. Check it out!

Terry, nice idea. I had been struggling with realistic lighting for the interior of a power station structure. I think this would work.

Antonio, thanks for the link. It is nice that folks on here are willing to offer unsolicited advice and ideas. (Hint of mild sarcasm[;)])

ScubaTerry,

Wow! Now that's bright! That will blind someone looking right into it.

This hobby has really come a very long way in just a decade.[:D][8D]

Antonio - Yes I agree. Things are much easier today and we have many more options for everything in the MRR hobby. I know white headlights are not Prototypical but I am not happy with the yellow lights most transition era locos come with. My aim is to be able to run night time ops with only structure, loco and incidental lighting. Maybe have some blue lights on the overhead to simulate moon glow. I can't help but remember the article in the Plan build DVD Kalmbach sent out. The gentleman speciically built his layout with night time ops in mind. Awesome.

Terry,

I often miss out on new stuff from Kalmbach. Can you tell me more about this DVD? It's title? I'm sure my LHS could get it for me.

Thanks!

It was a promotional video series they (Kalmbach) came out with a few months back. They mailed a complementary DVD of the first issue to all registered MRR mag subscribers. You could either keep it and pay for each additional issue, send it back or in my case I just kept it. I didn't feel it was worth subscribing to. Most of the footage was a rehash of previous videos. Anyway I believe the name of the series is Dream, Plan Build. I think they are up to the 3rd DVD now. Maybe someone who is getting the entire set can give you more info. You could email MRR and see if they can send you a copy???

Be careful when looking at some of the Super Bright leds; they will give you a headache. I'm using them for signals at Train Mountain, and the Aqua green at 9000mcd is visible from at least 500 feet. They also have a 12000mcd red that's fairly light in color(627nm). I just received 20 of each. They are a good company to deal with, good prices, and no problems, yet.
