In my current HO scale roster, my D&H PA & my CPR AC4400's followed closely by SD40-2's.

In 1:1 scale, H1B 4-6-4 2816.

especially C420

Critters in general... the more home made the better.

Narrow Gauge:- 2' the WW1 Baldwin 4-6-0T and Alco 2-6-2T that worked the Western Front. One of the latter (revived) still runs on the Ffestiniog Railway.
3'6" NGG16 (SAR)

British:-
Steam:- GWR De Ghlenn compound 4-4-2
Diesel:- Class 66 (an SD in hiding)... or a Western
Electro Diesel (That's an Electric with a diesel back-up) Class 73... the only class!

Just too hard to pick. I luv em all. Even better the ones from places I have lived for a while, so US, British, Australian, Indonesia. As long as it has flanged wheels and runs on two bits of steel layed parallel it is great. Steam power, diesel or electric.



A couple of my favourites. All that smoke and steam tackling one of the most notorious banks on the system. The electrics that use that overhead wire would do it with less fuss, but the spectacle would be so much less impressive.



US style, but NSW Australia. Imported post WW II to replenish stock after heavy useage during the war. One of my favourites too.



Pioneer of a new era. First diesel type on NSW Australia metals. Canadian built RS3, I remember them from my early school days.

I can never have too many Geeps.

When I started in the hobby, I wanted to run super power engines (SD90MACs, AC6000s, UP Big Boys, etc.) But over the years I grew to like the Geeps the most.. 4-Axle GP38-2s just look nice on a small layout like mine.

Like one of our other posters wrote in his sig, "It's a Geep thing. You wouldn't understand." [:D]

My vote would go for the S.P. Cab Forward for the classic and have to take the SDACe (above) as the new kid on the block. Reminds me of the old style EMD''s with all the squar elines and gotta dig those big ole' fins in the back
