coupler height problem
Posted by jkroft on Sunday, April 23, 2006 9:44 PM
I'm unfamiliar with this so I need help. How do I adjust the height of my n-scale atlas accumates? My SD-50 rear coupler is to high for the front coupler on my Triple Crowns. I realize that something is ALWAYS wrong with an SD-50 (haha.....for all you prototype people), but there has to be a way to fix it. Also, on a side note, where can I find a 12VDC power supply for some IR occupancy detectors and panel lights,....etc.... (besides Radio Shack)

Try Allelectronics. You should calculate the total power requirements first (total draw in amps) of the system you are powering to choose the proper power supply.

Sorry, I don't think I can help with the coupler height problem. I model in HO scale and I'm not familiar with the N scale Atlas SD-50 or their coupler.
However, do you have a coupler height gauge to be sure that it's not the couplermate's coupler that's off ?

F.Y.I.
I model T.C. also. I see the prototype several times a day behind my shop and on the way home and to work. I noticed they run some trailers, at the rear of the consist, backwards using a link bar between the rear of two trailers (rear to rear). There's a red metal "pup tent" shaped sign, attached to the link bar, that reads in white letters "NO CROSS OVER". There is also a couplermate at the rear with that configuration. I assume this makes switching at the terminals faster.
