An FL9. I'm amazed LL haven't done this as a P1K yet, they already have a very sweet F-unit drive unit that could be modified and they've shown an inclination to offer other unusual locos (DL109, for example) in this range before. A BLI sound-equipped one would be even better of course

Trams/trolleys, call 'em what you will, what we need is a reliable source of powered chassis. 4-wheel cars can be mounted on a Black Beetle or SPUD power truck but where are the 18mm wheelbase trucks for 4-axle cars? They're getting increasingly hard to get hold of here, and new legislation against the use of lead may well kill them off (the mainframe on the trucks I use is whitemetal). If Corgi were to offer a RTR powered chassis to fit their Feltham cars it could easily be adapted to other types.

modern commuter cars (Walthers gold line Horizon coaches with grab irons and trucks that actually roll)

An Atlas F40PH (I know Kato makes one but face it- will we ever see more than 3 or 4 schemes for it within the next 10 years?) Atlas always produces several schemes for it's locos each run..............

An FL9 ( With all the F's, you think someone would make this)

An MP36 Commuter locomotive ( Metra, Caltrain, and some others have them, more could follow)

more inexpensive diecast vehicles (think model power)

One area that is neglected is 40 foot Rbl's with separate hand rails and ladders. I would love to see Athearn, Life Like, Branchline or ATLAS step up to the plate.

A really nice SW 1500 with sound like the MP 15

An SW 1001 like Reading and Conrail, now CSX and Norfolk Southern. Although not many class 1's bought these new, look what has happened with the mergers!

we need some more HO New England Central or Providence & Worcester stuff. i do P&W, and atlas makes the only good models of them. (brown blombergs and fuel tanks?? come on athearn, you can do gooder) that could benifit anyone who models CSX and wants an interchange. we also need a B unit of the dash 7's from atlas. smokey valley kits are few and far between. mabey some stuff in P&W's older white and orange sceme.

Macdonalds was done once and the company (Lifelike, I think) got sued bigtime. They will not license a model. Much of the other stuff is out there. You have to be willing to pay for it. If you need some oddball loco, lay out the cash. That is what brass is for.
SD40-2 have been done to death. If you don't like them doesn't mean we need another.

um, actually McDonald's started in southern California...

there is a model of White Castle available, however.

The main issue with things like models of McDonald's is LICENSING. Anything trademarked requires a licensing agreement, and they aren't cheap for something like McDonald's.

my call: More STREETCARS--historic AND modern. I like 'em all--Jewett, Brill, PCC, Duewag, Siemens, CAF...

Up here in Ontario Canada some do refer to it as Mickey D's too. Definately would like to see one , also a modern school and hospital, and more modern houses.

I understand that is the "era" that most of the modeling demographic was growing up and that is what most people tend to model. I however am a child of the 80's, that is my "era" and I too would like to see Mickey D's and the like produced. (Its not just a southern thing, I live in the home of the Arches, Chicago and that is what we call it too)
There are a lot of modern businesses that there isn't really anything for. As mentioned above, a modern bank, a post office, fast food-type places, modern houses (even 1970's modern houses would be a step in the right direction), more modern service vehicles would be good too like the postal vehicles mentioned above.

The newest items are mainly steam-era. They produced kits of a few loco-facility items a while back, but they can be hard to find.

Boley and Trident offer a rather good selection of police vehicles. I've seen a pretty good selection for the Massachusetts State Police; i'm not sure as much about others. I've seen quite a few for NYPD, LAPD, and the Alaska State Patrol. Still, it isn't as much as Fire vehicles.

It seems that walthers has recently produced something of a modern service facility. Then again, modern facilties are often so drab on the outside. The small details are really what is needed.

I think we need just about everything modern.
