i dont know much about kitbashing, but heres what id do: get a stock atlas high hood GE unit. Remove the cab. use some kind of styrene to fill the gap, somehow making contoures. or you could find an old riverosi shell(or something eles thats cheap), and use the material from that to fill in the gap. the panels where the cab would be look pretty void of detail, so this should be an easy project for someone with some experience. once its built, theres probably a lot of new room in there for weight. [;)] DO NOT TRY THIS ON EXPENSIVE AN ATLAS MODEL FIRST!
hope i was able to help.
