Train Inventory update
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 7:11 AM
I do not know what happened to our last post about the Train Inventory Software. It seems it disappeared into thin air. Anyway, the latest version can be downloaded from http://webpages.charter.net/gopherpro . I am trying to find me a host to put this on that supports ASP so I can improve the site a little. I am working on adding the thumbnails on the main form but I want to beta test it a little furher than I have been so be patient please.

Your link doesn't work - the period at the end of the sentence is included as part of the link, and since it isn't part of the URL the link doesn't work.

What error are you getting? If it's the excel I got that fixed as of today. You can get the update on the web site. As for the search, I am still working on the code for that.

I would like to thank everyone for helping me find the errors with the Train Inventory. Questions have been raised about adding a search feature. That is still in the works but I have yet to find a code that will work like I want it. I fanyone is interested in a newsletter, just shoot me an email to tfairris1@yahoo.com and in the subject put newsletter, and in the body put your email and the word subscribe. The same if later you want to unsubscribe put in unsubscribe until I can get the proper form built to handle it automatically.

Thomas, I run a small ISP. One of my servers (W3K) supports MS FrontPage extentions. I might be able to put up ASP, if we are thinking about the same thing and I would let you roost there for free...

Later on if things work out for you then perhaps a small contribution would be appreicated. Whatever you thing is right for you.

I'm also considering putting up a listserv for all dcc question and answer exchanges.

Contact me off line at h_rifkind@yahoo.com and give me so more details.

Cannot understand, Train Inventory does not require anything to be put in the registry. What version of Windows are you running? Can you send me the error you are talking about so I can see what went wrong?

OK. I had some people ask for a search feature. I have planned a search ever since I started writing the program. Well, it is finally here. You can search name, type, locomotive type, and collectors item. The search page has 4 different boxes with what they are searching. I guess all that is left is the reporting which vb 2005 express does not have [:(]

I use another train inventory program called RRTrains. I like it. It allows you to store all pertinent information about your inventory, including pictures, which can come in handy for insurance purposes. It's available at: http://www.gregorybraun.com/

Full version, as far as I know... What's this about MS Front Page? Don't think I have that. I'm running Windows XP.

I just use MS Excel and create a workbook with multiple worksheets in it. The Top sheet is my Total Roster, and the sheets underneath that are set up for the Road Names. On the road name Sheets I attach a pic from either the manufacturer or one that I've take if I've done any detailing of the engine.

I have all the pertinent info on DCC encoders installed, cost of the engine, retail price and such, along with purchase date. I figure that if anything would happen to me, at least someone could look at the XLS file and see what I have, or look at the binder where I have a hard copy of all of this along with the Decoder documentation. I figure someone will see this book and say, "Man, He was some ANAL dude wasn't he!" LOL!

I deleted the initial post and I'm going to lock this one.

We have a strict policy against commercial posts here. We don't want this forum to turn into a gallery of eBay auction listings and items for sale (whether from an individual or a business). Sorry, since we've been enforcing this on other in the past, I have no choice but to enforce it on you also.
