Kadee's New Car
Posted by RedGrey62 on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 3:26 AM
Kadee is releasing a new body style this month. I tried to get the representative to spill the beans at the NMRA show in Cincinatti but he just smiled and said wait and see. Your guess is as good as mine and unfortunately I have nothing to offer if you guess correctly!

I think it will be a tank car.

The beans were already spilt in the May Railroad Model Craftsman New Products column.

For those who want to play the guessing game, I'll just say:

It's a car that some modelers could use in large numbers, though the price is likely to limit that.

It's a style that others have offered in the past, but not in Kadee quality. Atlas and Athearn have released the same body type, though the Atlas one is of a slightly different variant.

Fritz

I guess that kinda ruins the poll, unfortunately it will be some time before I see the May issue, I'll just have to wait until I read about it online. I do have a new guess based on your clues though. Thanks

Wow, might want to be a little more creative with the next poll, but whatever! Good luck!

Haven't got my RMC yet, so I'll just hope it's something more modern that the last few.

I predict that it will be a Pullman Standard of some sort.

I can guarantee it won't be a 40' gondola. Everyone wants the produce the 50'+ versions. I'd like to find one that's styrene based. Walthers makes a nice 46' gondola, but even that is a bit long. Someday...maybe...

Sorry, not really. It's definitely steam and transition era.
But (thankfully) not another wooden reefer, as some had predicted.

Hopefully it is a Hi Level lounge in plastic (you Santa Fe guys know what I am talkin' about).[:o)][;)]

Edit: instead of "talkin' about" it should be "gripin' about".

Well, I wish it would be a standard flat car, or a stock. Seems that flat cats are often overlooked in the better detailed market. Stock cars don't have the massive market of other types. BUT I am guessing since they already have a box, and a covered hopper, that it will be a tank. Tanks are another car that people need mass quantities of.

A Kadee tank car does sound quite appealing.

I don't care. It'll be priced way the h*ll up there, so it don't matter what it is.

I can see it now......

'Kadee super tank', $50.

You guys are way off. But it IS a car that Athearn has made for decades.

Personally, I would have liked to see something a bit more off the wall, like a GS gondola (not like the Red Caboose version) or a B&O wagontop box. Oh well...

one of those round-roofed boxcars (PRR, B&O, even SAL) would be nice:
