For me, my dream: a Z scale SP Cab-Forward, for my Z scale Tehachapi Pass layout (in spite of the fact my favorite era is spring 1997, just after both SP/UP and ATSF/BN mergers).

I already own a half-dozen SD90MAC's and another half-dozen SD70 series locomotives. "Monster" locomotives are a way of life in today's railroading. However, I am waiting patiently for one of the new Challengers to come out. It will be a great addition for my railroad's excursion fleet currently consisting of an S-4 4-8-4, a 2-6-2 and a pair of ATSF E8s.

None of the above. I like big locomotives but the railroad I model (Southern) did not have articulated steam in the region I model. I have no reason to buy a model that doesn't fit my intended railroad. Now, if I were a collector and just wanted to stick it on a shelf -- then I'd probably choose an N&W class A or a C&O 2-6-6-6.

I agree. A 'write in or 'other' should have been provided. For myself, a Great Northern W-1 would be nice.

I vote for the UP 8500 Hp turbine. In plastic. The Brass on in N scale is too expensive.

What about the Matt H. Shay, Triplexes ( P-1 2-8-8-8-2 ) [:0][:0] from the Erie RR. Three were built (#s 5014-5016). Yeah these locomotives were very impracticle[:(], but they were built and they were used in service; all be it limited.

I got to go with the Little Joe. I have one in brass, but its...not good. So a good one in plastic would be VERY useful

You are missing an option.

NONE

Help steer the manufacturers AWAY from monster locos, or risk representing the half-million+ income earners only.

I'll be VERY happy if Lionel goes under due to the new Challenger, Athearn as well.

Athearn's model is a DD40. Bachmann made aDD40X in the 1980's that is toy-like.I see them for saleCHEAP at most train shows. you could repower it and detail it into a convincing model.
Athearn makes one.[:D]
