Pulpwood & Bulkhead Flats
Posted by whitman500 on Monday, March 6, 2006 9:18 AM
I'm thinking of adding a sawmill/paper mill complex to my layout and was curious about when pulpwood started being carried by bulkhead flatcars? I know that these cars were in service in the early 1960s but would they have been around in ~1955 when my layout is set? Anyone know? Thanks.

Yes, they were basic flat cars with built on bulkheads. Go to www.steamfreightcars.com and maybe you can get some ideas there, Ken
