For all you folks who claim to model a specific period (or want to model a specific period), check this out..

Do a search on "Street" and see what comes up.. Another good search is "parade"... LOTS of signage can be seen.. This is Detroit area specific for the most part but it'll give a very nice glimps into what the life was like back in the day.. I found it while looking for information on Fort Street Union Depot in Detroit.. Not much there on that but lots of other stuff.
Enjoy.

Interesting to research an era like the '50s and see the "better" times of auto, milk and newspaper strikes, "commies", and "gangster hearings". For someone needing to model interesting industries, there are the obvious auto plants, but also the Mackinac bridge construction, and the "international Salt Mines" and the steel industry.
Very interesting site, there must be others of different areas documenting the "history" as captured by the lens to refresh our memories of eras we would like to model. Thanks for the link.
