Ken,

The windows in your brass locomotives were probably made out of styrene. If so, the paint stripper melted them.

Clear styrene will work. Glass microscope slides is also a good choice and won't react to CA.

Correction/Clarification
The above should actually say "glass microscope slide glass covers". The glass covers are the very thin glass squares that lay on the surface of the glass microscope slide.

Warning
Be careful when handling. They are somewhat brittle and sharp.

Another source for window glazeing is a discarded clear 1 gal water jug.

I dont think water jug will do

I have got this one looking great
the windshield was thicker the windows did seem like the glue in another thread thats running right now. thin stuff, I never knew that windows can be such a project
for this one I would get a kit if one was availible

no I dont think pie box will do for this puppy (just kidding)

You might try a one piece window out of an old Bachman F unit shell.Ive had some success with it,with a little cutting and shaping.

Detail Associates (see Walthers) offers a window glass (styrene) lit for Athearn F units that might work. Laserkit offers a variety of "glass" kit, the F unit kit is # 229, they may also have one for E units. Their product is very clear acrylic and is laser cut. They are designed to be flush fitting.
