Has anyone replaced the turntable drive motor in an atlas turntable the one that you buy for it is really noisy? How about wheathering one has anybody a process that makes it look a little better?

It may be noisy because it's gear teeth are flicking across the ring gear's teeth due to poor positioning. Try placing two thicknesses of painters or masking tape between the outboard side of the motor and the housing..or use something to wedge the motor about 1/32" closer to the big ring, if that is the configuration you have. It MAY be the problem, and this fix SHOULD help if so.

It appears that all the older, non-indexed TT's of all makes have major problems. Sorry if my suggestion is redundant or unhelpful.

As for weathering, I pained the wooden decking dark brown (burnt umber), and used a mixture of the same paint and very little yellow and red to get a rus colour, then made a diluted wash and brushed the girder plates below the deck to ge a rusty look. I painted the railings one coat of safety yellow, only, to simulate wear and weathering.

Here is a shot to give you ideas. Note that I painted the pit interior burnt umber, too.
