Headlights & Ditch Lights in Cab Car
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, February 3, 2006 2:16 PM
Hello,

I've purchased the Bombardier Bi-Level cars and want to install working headlites and markers using a function decoder. I would like to know how I can wire the red and black wires to provide power to the decoder.

Any and all solutions will help.

Thank you.

I'm guessing you mean the Athearn HO cars - these will be tricky. You'll need to make up pickups and fit them to the trucks, and run wires inside the cars to power the decoder. I'd use copperclad circuit board material and either brass or nickle-silver strip to make the pickup wipers. Some experimentation may be necessary as the cars have inside-bearing trucks which don't leave a lot of space for pickups against the wheels. Good luck!
