window glue

Recently bought some HO passenger cars with window glass instlled with something(super glue?) that left a white ring around each pane. Windows do not seem to be damaged, but they look like they have a white gasket around them. Anybody have an idea if it is super glue if debonder will help at all. As far as I know, Elmers and such all dry clear and this is snow white. It is not silicone as the heavy applications between windows have definitely affected the plastic. Anybody have any suggestions to try and save these as they are out of production items.

My advice would be to try and remove the bad windows and replace them with new ones using Elmer's white glue. The white haze that Super Glue leaves is impossible to remove - in my experience.

Do NOT use a CA debonder. That will damage many plastics. Handibond produces a CA that does not frost/haze or whatever you want to call it. I am going to give that stuff a shot with some glazing I am about to install. Try their site for a reference.

My prior experience with superglue was that it indeed does fog the windowsas Tracklayer says. Thesse windows are perfectly clear, it is just that they have a white "gasket" around the edges. CS , thanks for the advice about the debonder as that is exactly one of the questions I was asking.

It is the Handibond Odorless that will not frost clear plastics (according to the manufacturer). As I said, I have not used it, but I am going to give it a shot soon.

Edit: I am not discounting the Elmer's white glue. I will actually try that as well. I am always open for something new and have never heard of that. That will hopefully work well in the Walther's cars.

The best I have found for mounting windows is Microscale Krystal Klear. Dries clear, never had a failure, can be used to make small windows and lenses.

I use Testors Clear Parts Cement for windows and such. Like Microscale Krystal Clear, it can be used to make small windows.

I think I would try soaking it in water unless something else could be damaged by that. I seem to remember some airplane canopies that looked like you described after I glued them in with some off brand white glue. The stuff would dry clear only if it was not to thick. That was maybe two decades ago so I can't swear to any of this but it is worth a try.

Super glue residue can sometimes be polished off. I've had good luck with Novus plastic polish.
