Good job on adding up posts. I usually find your posts thought provoking and interesting. Most of your subjects are things that I have thought about, and often wondered about others thoughts or experiences. [8D][8D][8D]

I would suggest that you pay very little attention to the grumblers[ [|(] [banghead] [|(]] . If they are just "blowing off steam", then the post probably helped them to lower their blood pressure.

Here's the skinny, it's a public forum,with human contact,so everyone has some insight on any given subject,if you don't like a post, DON'T read it,find what looks interesting and move on. It's like watching a bad tv show,just change the channel. Some people like to read them, I choose what I think I like or maybe answer and move on. Do I like every post, oh no, but each of us has a unique personality, so we're all going to see things from a different perspective. Are many threads useless? Maybe, but who am I to judge? well, i havent replied to any post in about two weeks now( just been lingering in here from time to time)[;)]. The way i look at things at "At least in my perspective" is the stars are just that stars.To me it shows the people that have been here longest and have hopefully, the most knowledge i this hobby.i seach the forum ,read posts here and there, And am usually drawn to the posts of the usuals, the people like tracklayer,selector, mcbruce, pcarrell,spacemouse etc.etc. that i have gotten information from and have helped me out with my little adventure in this thing we call model railroading.
i read the post and hopefulyl get something out of it . I'll post a reply to a question ever so often but, usually dont unless i feel that something i might say might help a fellow that is getting started . You guy are in my book all great and if i need help i am sure most will help, so with that note i say either read the post or just move on to the next. standing outside at night i see alot of stars sometime but, the information i get here is what counts to me[:D]
In closing i am sitting here thinking my biggest concern is not mesing up all the money i've spent on my supplies and layout ,trains etc. to worry about stars or anything else

I agree. If possible, we need to, if possible, post less often and take ICRR1964's advice and look for the newbies who are REALLY in need of help and advice. And to set the record straight, I may have a few stars to my "name" but I still consider myself a newbie in many respects and like to learn as much as I can. Equally, I like to help others out with the limited knowledge that I have obtained and retained from either my personal experiences or the plethora of knowledge that I have gleaned from here.

Don't take offense to what people like to see and not see. You have had allot of good post. What some are trying to point out, just to show you. Let say some new person comes to the forum asking a good question. He post the question, then is bumped to page 2 or three in a matter of hours and hardly gets any response to his question, because of multiple threads being started buy different members who spend allot of time in the forum. Your not the only one that does it so don't get mad at me please.

Some of us here in the forum just look at things different than others do. As far as the Stars and the numbers beside each person name, well I would love to see it go away. Spending 3 to 10 hours a day in forum is way to much time for me, I need to work and work on my layout. And as far as the stars and numbers, it tells a story to some of use here in the forum. When you have a member who has whatever amount of post in a six month period or less, and that number is up there high, you can pretty much see what they are shooting for. Then to post about how many stars or numbers they have, kind of gives them away. The hugging each other, high five's, and slapping on the back is just a dead give away.

Learning things about MR comes with time and getting your hands dirty, we all know that. People thinking that they are some senior member because of their stars or numbers is leading them blind. We are all still learning the art of MR, and learning new things from each other.

Don't take me wrong Tracklayer, you do throw out some good threads that challenge peoples minds. I for one look for the threads that get unanswered in the back pages and concentrate on helping them if I can. I post to some of yours from time to time to.

As far as the bragging post, I walk buy it all the time. Some will say I am just jealous of the stars and numbers others have, but in truth, I could really care less. I was always one and still am my own person, never have been a follower or chase after a click in real life or a forum. I am sure there are allot of use here in the forum that are like me in their own respect, but thats just us. In my eyes we are all different and have different thoughts.

Know one is telling you to leave forum, you do do good things, so please no drama. Your part of a MR family like the rest of us, you just do things different, which makes you your own person like me.

I think part of the problem is that we have members that frown on anything that's not "hard core model railroading". In other words, if it's too simple of a subject or not what they want to read, they get real irritable and start insulting - not taking into account that the person they're insulting isn't the kind of person that would be that way toward them, which I'm not. I always try and respect the other members and be as helpful as I can. You won't ever see me gang up on someone like a lot of members do when someone posts a topic or something they shouldn't. However, I do pop off and make remarks once in a while out of anger, that, or threaten to leave the forum never to return, but then, I'm as human as everyone else here.

Thanks james. I wi***hey were all quality posts, but sometimes no matter how hard I try, they just don't make the grade.

I regret creating this topic now because of the results it caused ([B)]). I also agree with the others that the stars really shouldn't be there because they send the wrong message to some as to what the forum is really all about - which I admit I let myself get caught up in...

From now on, I'm leaving the topics and polls up to you guys, and if you hit on something that interest me, I'll toss in my two cents worth.
