60's era Shinohara nickel silver switch problem
Posted by CP5415 on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 12:41 PM
OK, I have a Shinohara switch that is driving me nuts. [banghead]
I'm in the process of setting up my cab control & it's apparently an electrofrog switch but I want to remove that feature. [%-)]

Is there anyway I can eliminate that feature with out ruining the switch?

Do I simply just take my Dremel to the frog from the bottom of the switch?

I don't want to replace this switch as it's nicely situated on my layout.

PLEASE any suggestions would be extremely helpful.

Brought to you by the letters C.P.R. as well as D&H!

Shinohara turnouts are the 'all rail' frog type. They are not 'Electro Frog' - that is is a Peco thing. With Shinohara turnouts, you need to insulate the rails that come together at the frog. Insulated rail joiners are the easy way to do this. I assume you are getting a 'short' when you throw the switch - correct? email me off of the forum and I can send you some additional info.
