Who's Decoder?
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, January 14, 2006 9:08 PM
I recently purchased a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 with DCC. Runs pretty good with no break-in....my question is who makes the DCC decoder? The documentation is nonexistant. Thanks. RWL

Read CV8 and look it up here to find the manufacturer:

Or better yet, read CV8 and CV7 and look it up here. Not only will you find the manufacturer, but you can often narrow down the specific decoder type as well (JMRI comes through again!):

SoundTrax makes a sound drop-in decoder that took me all of 10 minutes to install. Sounds great, too. Right now they are in the $50-60 range.

I think Lenz provided a lot of the decoders for Bachmann.

Turns out CV8=101 and CV7=046 which seems to mean generic Bachmann.

I assume that I can replace this decoder with a more robust one without problems, right?
