Welcome to the forum. This time of year, lots of similar threads begin and there's a thread already devoted to starting a layout, the big picture of what to expect, and a few useful links for detailed how-to's along the way. You can find it here:

After you've begun to work your way through the planning process, you will undoubtedly come up with some much more specific questions, and you have come to the right place to get them answered. I have yet to see anyone posed a question that doesn't get answered, usually very quickly, there is a lot of talent and experience here.

Again welcome, and hope to see more of you around as you get more involved.

5 x 8--the yard on the right is staging. I've run 4 trains on it.

[#welcome] to the Forum, rmpdoc!! Good examples can also be found in any number of planning or track layout books at your local hobby shop (LHS). Ask your questions here and someone will chime in to help you out. Remember to have FUN!!
