I built one in HO scale Saturday, but I have to get a photo of it to post. I only used index cards, no aluminum can at all. I also used a bit of discarded plastic sprue to make a chimney for the stove. I'm just breaking the rules right and left. Watch out, I'm a renegade.

My shack is only about an inch square so the only use for the can is to hold my drink while working on it!

It most certainly does, it's only 6 feet in diameter in G-Scale!

oops my bad, i was thinking it had to be 8 scale ft x 8 scale ft square. your right. That isn't really all that bad of an idea, you could actually make a decent shack out of a can and an index card.

Seeing Tim's pictures I know I'm not going to win... But thats Ok. Cards and a tin can only for the building but can we put bushes and a path around outside the building?

OK.............my intrrest is sparked...........the GAME IS ON..................I suck at scratch building but I want to try..............sooooooooooo For there is none of you so mean and base,
That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George...........................j.w.

If you want to e-mail it to me I will host it for you. I have about 6 gig of storage on my domain. I can e-mail you a link to use to post your picture. Just make sure and put something about railroading in the subject or it may not get past my spam blocker. tim@tukaram.net

OK, so it doesn't match any of the rules, other than being scratchbuilt, but this is my project that I started yesterday:

We're sorry, your structure scales out to 12 by 6 feet from the six foot man in your included photo, 72 square feet, 8 over the alotted 64. For this crime, we are penalizing by the square foot, you are hereby assessed one spur end bumper and a realistic junkpile. We also accept major credit cards.

(Not a bad effort tho, not bad at all.;-)

FYI the shanty model in my photo was made ages ago, was mounted on a diorama then recycled into my latest pair of modules. It was scratchbuilt using plans in a Model Railroader softcover book that came out decades ago, I don't recall the title and I've got so many books it would take me some time to find it.

I just posted the photo as an inspiration!

No, I guess not. If everyone agrees it's ok with me. I'm just trying to keep it as much in the creativity realm as I can, you know, trying to separate what can be store bought from what real talent and imagination can produce. What's in your head? That's what this is about. You got a bunch of index cards and an aluminum can- make a shanty, zero budget, everyone equal.

I suck at scratchbuilding too, but if we never pu***he envelope, then we never know how far we can go.
