soundmodeler,

This is sort of a layout nuclear winter. I like it.

I think the last picture might be best! I wish I had done that to my first layout. Instead, I have it hanging on the garage wall to remind me of all the the mistakes that can possibly be made by a model railroader, and how I made them all on one layout. [:D]

It felt good too. That layout gave me nothing but problems, except a few good lessons about how to do things the right way. I think I had it running for six months before I tore it down.

Even the point to point is decent....I declare there is no such thing as an awful layout.

OOPS!--LOL! Just took a look at your photo gallery--WOWSER!! Could I get you to come over and do my wiring? The underside of my layout looks like the jungle in KING KONG.

Now this reminds me of the "Ugly Girl Back Home" contest in Marine boot camp. Everyone posted a picture and the drill instructors voted who had the ugliest. I don't think anyone ever told the winner.

This is terrible.

Are you going to post the "winner?" [:D]

An aristo Mallet, and a Mikado, 2 nice locos, but where is the track. My outdoor layout will be finished in the spring.

You can't tell from the picture but that's a Pacific in the back. The shell is the same as the Mikado. It has six heavyweight cars to go with it.

There's 15 tubes of Aristocraft 8' SS flex in the basement ready to go in when the snow melts. My summer was spent hauling rock and dirt around to build the mountains and level the roadbed. I also put in an 8' x 18' pond with a waterfall. It's too much trouble to be moving a lot of dirt around once the track is in place so I wanted to get the landscaping out of the way first.

Still, there's a lot of work to be done and bridges to be constructed before I can call it a proper layout.

Side B?

It looks to me like your going to try running the trains upside down on a layout hanging from the ceiling.

I should tell you, unless you have a typeof train I don't know about they will fall off.

I do believe I had the worst layouts, 2 of them, each right after the other. But..I cant enter this one....cause I burned all photos and evidence of ever attempting the construction.

The first, in HOn30 was a Micro layout for my tiny studio aptartment, built ouf of foam in the kitchen, all 18" x 24" of it, everything that could go wrong did. the foam didnt glue right, it carved badly, the track didnt stay down the paint ran, or didnt adhere correctly, nothing worked, then as if a sign from above, it got knocked off a shelve in an EQ and I just chucked it into the dumpster after that. Woof it was bad![:(]

the second was after we moved to a (slightly) bigger place that had a garage, so I gave it a whack again, HOn30 since i still had the previous lines stuff. 24 x 48 this time, again was a disaster, again ended up in the dumpster. I hung up my HOn30 hat and vowed I wound never do a larger layout in that scale again! Too dam small![V]

I'd show my indoor large scale line which is incomplete but I dont think an incomplete layout should be included, this should be for ham-fists like me who couldnt add scenery to the broad side of a scale barn![;)]

   Have fun with your trains

Oh, I forgot to mention that there are two or three turnouts on it that lead to absolutely nowhere! [:D]
