Banta on30 wood cab conversion for HO Mantua 2-6-6-2
Posted by tulyar on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 1:51 PM
Hi, for my sins I'm a brit across the pond who has recently launched into on30 mainly due to the bachmann offerings. I have a Mantua 2-6-6-2 and have spotted aa on30 wood cab conversion in the Banta range. Has anyone tried this conversion, or could you point me in the direction of any articles that may help me to undertake what sounds to be an interesting project...

What is it you're wanting? An On30 Mallet? Try this:

It's available here: http://www.backwoodsminiatures.com/ It ain't cheap, but look at what you end up with.

Nope, not that kit. Backwoods is known for their quality, though. It shouldn't be tough at all. If I had the extra bucks (pounds) I would jump all over it. Go for it. Worst case senario is you'll FFFF it all up, and learn your limitations. LOL

This won't help much, but I remember seeing pics in either MR or NGSLG showing just that - a 2-6-6-2 from Mantua converted to On30 in the last few years, so it can be done.

Or try this : http://www.bantamodelworks.com/
